Robert D. Hansen was named Vice President and General Manager of Dow Cornings Core Products Business in 2005. Previously, Mr. Hansen served as Executive Director of the Global Construction Industry Group where he was responsible for advancing and sustaining a commercial strategy and product/service portfolio tailored to the specific needs of customers. As a member of the Global commercial council, he co-led the development of Dow Cornings solutions strategy to better enable the company to meet customers needs exactly. In 2002, he was named European President, and oversaw Dow Cornings organization, operations and governance in Europe.
Hansen was a key contributor and member of the team that created and designed the web-based business model, originally designed to service a specific customer segment, which became Xiameter and has since set the standard for specialty chemicals internet business models worldwide. He also led the development of a new business strategy for the global construction industry that resulted in a robust growth portfolio and increased market penetration after almost a decade of declining growth. In addition, he has been instrumental in the establishment of two distinct sealant product lines and business strategies to enable radical approaches to significantly increase profitability, growth and productivity.
Since joining Dow Corning in 1982, Mr. Hansen has held positions in finance, product line management, global procurement, and commercial management. In 1988, he relocated to Brazil to become regional finance manager. While there, he designed and implemented a strategy to combat the regions hyperinflationary economy. In 1992, he returned to the United States as evaluator/controller for Dow Cornings rubber business where he directed a multimillion dollar investment in Japan. He was later named as director of Finance and Customer Service/Logistics for the Inter-American Area. In 1996, Hansen became South America Region manager, directly responsible for regional commercial and operational activity. Under his leadership, South America became the fastest growing region within Dow Cornings operations. He then became global fluids product line manager and global procurement director prior to moving into the construction industry position.
Mr. Hansen holds a bachelors of science degree in business administration from Valparaiso University. |
