Robert has been engaged in the practice of oil, gas, and mineral law in the States of Texas and Louisiana for over thirty years. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law. His representation of large and small oil and gas companies has required extensive expertise concerning all areas of oil and gas matters, including: contracts for the sale and purchase of oil, gas, and other related hydrocarbon substances and the acquisition and financing of producing properties, pipelines, and gathering systems; regulatory matters before the Railroad Commission of Texas; and the negotiation, review, and preparation of drilling agreements, exploration, and participation agreements, joint venture agreements, farm-out/farm-in agreements, joint operating agreements (onshore and offshore), pooling and unitization agreements, rights of way acquisition, and environmental matters. Robert has authored many title opinions (drillsite, division order, and limited title opinions relative to the acquisition and financing of producing properties) that cover lands located in Texas and Louisiana. He has represented clients in complex litigation concerning the ownership, exploration, production, and operation of oil and gas properties, pipelines, and oil and gas contractual matters, and rights-of- way condemnation. Robert has testified as an expert witness concerning oil and gas matters and served as appointed Special Master in Chancery regarding oil and gas contract issues. Robert's general business practice has included commercial litigation concerning real property, contractual, and eminent domain issues, in addition to issues concerning oil and gas matters. His corporate practice has included the organization and incorporation of new businesses, formation of limited liability companies, and the negotiation and drafting of shareholder, partnership, joint venture, and purchase/sale agreements. He has represented clients in matters concerning the sale, purchase, and financing of commercial property. Robert is a mediator in Texas and has mediated conflicts involving contractual, real property, deed restriction, and construction law issues. Robert is a member of the State Bars of Texas and Louisiana. He authored "Recent Legislation & Jurisprudence Concerning Oil & Gas in the State of Texas," published in the LANDMAN, Vol. XXX, No. 11. Robert graduated from Louisiana College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, received his Juris Doctorate Degree from South Texas College of Law in 1973. He has resided in Houston, Texas, since 1969. |
