Robert E. Abernathy is Group President Developing and Emerging Markets. In this position Mr. Abernathy leads the company�s businesses in Asia Latin America Eastern Europe the Middle East and Africa. This newly-created organization ensures that the company�s resources are focused on the best growth opportunities in these regions including value-tier diapers light-end incontinence and Health Care products. In addition Mr. Abernathy is responsible for leading Kimberly-Clark's Global Nonwovens businesses.
Prior to being named to his current position Mr. Abernathy headed up the Business-to-Business segment which includes the K-C Professional Health Care Neenah Paper Technical Paper and Nonwovens businesses. While leading B2B he drove solid top- and bottom-line growth in K-C�s Health Care Business and improved profitability in the company�s Professional tissue business.
Mr. Abernathy joined Kimberly-Clark in 1982 as a research scientist and later held management positions in the company's diaper and tissue operations. He held plant manager positions at Beech Island S.C. and Jenks Okla. before being named Vice President of Diaper Operations in 1992. He was elected Managing Director for Kimberly-Clark Australia the following year. In 1996 he was elected Group President - Kimberly-Clark appointed Group President Business-to-Business in 1998 and named to his present position in 2004.
Mr. Abernathy was born in San Marcos Texas in 1954. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Alabama and a master's degree from the Institute of Paper Chemistry.
Mr. Abernathy is based at Kimberly-Clark's operations headquarters in Roswell Ga. He and his wife Laura have two children. |
