Dr. Hancock is a professor of Microbiology and Immunology at UBC and is a Canada Research Chair holder. He heads the UBC Centre for Microbial Diseases and Immunity Research and was the Founding Scientific Director of the Canadian Bacterial Diseases Network from 1989-96. He is a Founder of Inimex Pharmaceuticals Inc., and has served as a Scientific Advisory Board Member or consultant with 17 biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Hancock received his Ph.D. from Adelaide in 1974, did his postdoctoral work at T�bingen from 1975-77, at Berkeley from 1977-78. His research interests include antibiotic uptake and resistance, functional genomics and the development of small cationic peptides as novel antimicrobials and immune modulators. He has published more than 300 papers and reviews, and has 12 patents awarded. |
