Robert (Bob) Berner is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. He is responsible for the evolution, engineering, and deployment and operation of Rogers Wireless' advanced wireless national voice and data networks. In addition, Mr. Berner oversees the New Product Development and Government and Inter-Carrier Relations departments.
Mr. Berner joined Rogers Wireless in February 1985 as Director of Network Operations, responsible for the initial implementation and subsequent operation of the Rogers cellular network. Mr. Berner's subsequent positions at Rogers Wireless have encompassed senior management responsibilities in a broad variety of areas including engineering, operations, finance and administration, and business planning. Over the course of his career at Rogers Wireless he has held the positions of Vice President, Network Operations, Vice President, Business Planning and Vice President, Engineering.
Prior to joining Rogers Wireless, Mr. Berner spent time at Bell Canada where his career rapidly progressed from line management of technical and administrative personnel through network operations, facilities and equipment engineering management, project administration, systems analysis, and the design and implementation of management information systems.
Mr. Berner graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering, specializing in Operational Research and Management Science. He is a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) and is affiliated with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (APEO).
