Robert J. Eichhorn of Metairie, Louisiana, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association�s 88th International Convention, held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Eichhorn is the Executive Director for the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation. In addition, he is an emergency management consultant and adjunct instructor for the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
A member of the Jefferson Lions Club, Director Eichhorn has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson, deputy district governor at large, district cabinet secretary/treasurer, district Leo chairperson, multiple district Leo chairperson, multiple district secretary/treasurer and district governor. Additionally, he has served as Advisor, Trustee, Treasurer and President of the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation. Director Eichhorn served two years as a board member of the Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children and Program Book Chairperson for the NFL New Orleans Saints and Lions exhibition football games.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award, the District Governor Extension Award, two Leo Chair Achievement Awards, two International President�s Certificates of Appreciation, an International President�s Special Membership Award, International President�s Extension Award and International President�s Commendation Award. Director Eichhorn is a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Director Eichhorn is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently a member of the North American Conference of Lions Foundations. Director Eichhorn was previously a member of the American Public Works Association, American Society of Professional Emergency Planners, National Coordinating Council of Emergency Management, Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association, chairperson of the Southeast Louisiana Hurricane Task Force and co-chairperson of the local Emergency Planning Committee for Orleans Parish. He has been a member of the Orleans Parish Communications District and board member of WRBH, radio for the blind and print handicapped in New Orleans. Director Eichhorn also was selected to the 2005-2006 National Register�s Who�s Who in Executives and Professionals and received the City of New Orleans Mayor�s Medal of Honor |
