Robert J. Grey is senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of PPL Corporation. Grey joined PPL in March 1995 as vice president, general counsel and secretary. He was promoted to his current position in March 1996. Prior to his work at PPL, Grey was general counsel for Long Island Lighting Co. Prior to that, he had been a partner with the law firm of Preston Gates & Ellis in Seattle, Wash., and Portland, Ore. His experience also includes several years as a staff counsel for the New York Public Service Commission, and he served as an attorney for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Grey is a member of the bar in Maryland, the District of Columbia, New York, Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania and Georgia (inactive). He also is a member of the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Council Group of the Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law Section. Grey is on the executive committee of the Energy Association of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Conference Board�s Council of Chief Legal Officers. He serves on the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley, and is a member of the board of trustees and chairman of the Legal Committee of the United Jewish Communities. A native of Westbury, Long Island, N.Y., Grey earned a bachelor�s degree from Columbia University, a doctor of laws degree from Emory University, and a master of laws degree in taxation from George Washington University.
