Robert J. Kennedy, M.D. joined the Ellis Hospital Board of Trustees in January 2006. He has been Ellis Hospital 's Chief of Ophthalmology since 1995 and a member of the hospital's medical staff since 1984. Dr. Kennedy also served as a member of the Ellis Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees from 1994-2002. He and his brother, John J. Kennedy, Jr., M.D., operate a private practice on Providence Avenue in Schenectady.
Dr. Kennedy earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. and his bachelor's degree, with honors, from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. He completed his postgraduate training in Baltimore, MD having done an internship at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, his residency at Maryland General Hospital and a Retina Fellowship at The Wilmer Institute, The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Kennedy is a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He holds memberships in numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, the American College of Surgeons and the Schenectady County Medical Society. |
