Robert Dann has concentrated his practice on commercial lending and troubled assets. From 1981 to 1995, he served as in-house Investment Counsel to a group of insurance companies in Winston-Salem, N.C., focusing on commercial real estate development, management, and lending. He served as the lender's counsel for the sale of a $90 million pool of commercial loans and a $60 million pool of nursing home loans. He also served as lender's counsel in the acquisition and syndication of nursing care facilities in North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, West Virginia, Illinois, Colorado and California. From 1989 to 1995, he served as lender's counsel in workouts, foreclosures, interim operations and sales of various investments, including: Seat on Secured Creditors Committee in multi-billion dollar bankruptcy of Public Service of New Hampshire. Workouts of $11 million and $16 million loans on retirement centers in Birmingham, AL and Denver, CO. Foreclosures, shut-downs and sales of retirement center in Charlotte, NC and apartment building in San Francisco, CA. Successful defense of lender liability claim through the 11th Circuit Court of appeals, arising in foreclosure of motel property in Kingsland, GA. Foreclosures, interim operation of REO, and sales of hotel, in Marietta, GA, and motel in Lumberton, NC. Workout of development loan with over 10 institutional lenders on Las Colinas development near Dallas, TX. From January, 1996 through October, 1999, he owned and operated a title insurance agency in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Since November 1, 1999, he has been a partner with Miller & Martin. Mr. Dann is past President of the Southside Branch of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Chattanooga Area Swim League, 1990 graduate of Leadership Winston-Salem. He currently serves as legal counsel to the Board of Directors of Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club, past President of the Parents Council for McCallie School, and an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 191, and as President of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga.
