Robert L. Schaefer is Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (TDY) and General Counsel for its Electronics & Communications (E&C) business segment. He also has cognizance of the contracts organization.
Before Joining TDY in 2000, Mr. Schaefer was the Director-Legal for Raytheon Missile Systems.
Upon his retirement as Chief Trial Attorney of the Air Force, Colonel Schaefer joined the Hughes Missile Systems Company as Assistant Group Counsel, where he was responsible for legal affairs at its headquarters and engineering facility. At the time of his retirement Colonel Schaefer was the Chief Trial Attorney of the Air Force. Some of his other Air Force assignments were the Director of General Law for Air Force Logistics Command and Deputy Director of the Major Claims Division for the Directorate of Contract Appeals, Staff Judge Advocate Kunsan Air Base, Korea, Associate Professor of Law and Chairman of Elective Courses at the United States Air Force Academy, and a detached assignment as the Air Force procurement attorney for Spain and Italy.
Mr. Schaefer is the Chair of the Section of Public Contract law and has also been a Council Member of the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division in the American Bar Association. He has been an officer in the National Contract Management and the Federal Bar Associations and is a past President of the Armed Services Contract Trial Lawyers Association and the Boards of Contract Appeals Bar Association and is a member of its Board of Directors. He is a member of the Arizona Bar and California Bar Associations, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and is on the Bureau on National Affairs, Inc., Federal Contracts Report Advisory Board. He has published and made presentations in national forums on government contracting, privatization, and related topics.
Mr. Schaefer received his BA, with honors, and JD from Arizona State University and an LL.M in Government Procurement Law from The George Washington University. He is a Certified Public Contracts Manager by the National Contract Management Association and a member of its Council of Fellows. He is admitted to practice before federal and state courts. |
