BACKGROUND: Bob Trohn is a shareholder of GrayRobinson. He was born on December 28, 1930 in Connecticut, and reared in Lakeland, Florida where he graduated from high school. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida, graduated from law school there in 1954 and began practice in Lakeland in 1957 after service in the United States Army. EXPERIENCE: Bob has been a trial lawyer since he began practice 45 years ago. Over the course of his career he has tried complex cases in such diverse areas as eminent domain, patent and trade mark, insurance contracts, personal injury, white collar crime, civil rights and major construction cases. He began a series of cases collectively called the Polk County Courthouse Case. From 1988 to 1998 Bob, with other members of the firm collected $13,000,000 from the contractor and subcontractors. The case culminated with a five week jury trial in 1995 and a verdict and judgment against Reliance Insurance Company which was settled on appeal for $35,000,000. The end result of the Courthouse Case was the collection of $48,000,000 on a building which originally cost $29,000,000. Bob does trials and appeals. He has trials pending on construction, civil rights, wrongful death and medical malpractice cases as well as appeals referred to him. Bob is board certified in civil trial law by The Florida Bar.
