Mr. Underwood has 14 years of technical and marketing/operating background and over 20 years of business development experience. Until co-founding North American in 1989, he was a general partner of ISSS Ventures, a venture capital partnership specializing in the information industry. Prior to this, he was President of Northern Trust Venture Capital, where he established and managed the bank's venture capital program. Previously, Mr. Underwood was Vice President of Business Development for Heizer Corporation. Prior to joining Heizer, Mr. Underwood held a variety of management positions with TRW Inc.'s computer systems and electronics businesses. He also served in the Federal government with the Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President, and with the Department of Transportation. He began his career with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company. Mr. Underwood has been or is a Director of a number of emerging companies, both public and private. He is a member of the Advisory Board for Santa Clara University's School of Business and Administration and a long-time past member of the National Science Foundation's Advisory Committee on Industrial Innovation. Mr. Underwood has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences, all from Stanford University. He also has an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University. |
