Current Position
Bob Edgell is Mirant's Executive Vice President and U.S. Region Head. He has profit-and-loss responsibility for Mirant's fleet of 14,000 megawatts of generation in the United States and the company's U.S. commercial and marketing operations, which provide energy solutions to meet the needs of Mirant's customers.
Career before Mirant
2005: Managing Director of Private Power International Development PTE, LTD, a Singapore registered private company engaged in consulting, development and equity investment in private power projects in Asia.
1996-2005: Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Region for Edison Mission Energy located in Singapore. Responsible for the profit and loss performance and new business development of the Asia, Australia and New Zealand businesses.
2000-2005: Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Contact Energy, Ltd., a New Zealand integrated wholesale and retail electricity provider majority owned by Edison Mission Energy.
1990-1996: Executive Vice President of Edison Mission Energy. Responsible for worldwide development.
1985-1990: Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Edison Mission Energy. Responsible for the company's 18 equity investments in greenfield cogeneration and renewable power generation projects.1984-1985: Manager of Cogeneration and Small Power Development for Southern California Edison. Responsible for the utility contracting over 10,000 megawatts of third party projects.
1984: Southern California Edison's chief representative coordinating the electric service for the sporting venues associated with the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
1980-1984: District Manager and Operations Manager at various locations for Southern California Edison.
1977-1980: Various management positions for Southern California Edison including power production and scheduling, electric system planning, and rate base recovery design for load management regulatory programs.
1969-1977: Various engineering and supervisory positions.
