Bob Best is the executive vice president of service operations and chief information officer with UnumProvident. In this capacity, Mr. Best oversees the areas which are responsible for all customer service related functions; benefit services for short term disability, voluntary, accidental death and disability, and life insurance claims; and the design and execution of UnumProvident's corporate information technology strategy.
Mr. Best began his career with Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Co. in South Carolina, where he served as senior vice president, operations and information systems and, later, executive vice president. In 1992-93, Mr. Best played an executive role in the merger of Colonial Companies and Unum Corp., and, in August 1993, he became chief information officer for UNUM Corporation. He joined Provident, a predecessor of UnumProvident, in 1994 as senior vice president of customer services and chief information officer.
Mr. Best served as a board director for the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) from 1998-1999. Insurance & Technology Magazine elected Mr. Best as one of 2004's Elite 8.
Mr. Best graduated from Newberry College with a bachelor of arts in mathematics and has completed advanced management courses in general management and information technology from Harvard and Duke universities. |
