Mr. Robert Bowers is located in Maersk Line, Limited's (MLL) Norfolk, Va., headquarters and manages the Vessel Lifecycle Management (VLM) business. The VLM business is one of MLL's five strategic businesses and involves providing cost effective vessel management solutions to customers interested in incorporating commercial best practice into their existing business model. Vessel Lifecycle Management involves such areas as maintenance planning; maintenance execution; incorporating risk into maintenance decisions (RCM); quality management including ISM, ISO and lean/six sigma systems; and true global vessel management. VLM is also the home for MLL's engineering research and development efforts in support of vessel conversions and sea basing technologies.Mr. Bowers is a retired U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer. He joined Maersk Line, Limited in April, 2000.Mr. Bowers is a member of the Surface Navy Association, National Defense Industrial Association, ASNE, SNAME and the Lloyds Register North America Advisory Council. He is a certified Ship's Superintendent by Det Norske Veritas.He holds a B.S. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NROTC) and M.A. degrees from the University of Rhode Island and the Navy War College.Bob and his wife, Irene, live in Norfolk, VA and have seven children. |
