Robert R. Tarter joined State Street in 1994 as senior vice president and director of sales and marketing for the master trust and public funds businesses. In August 1999, he was named head of analytics with responsibility for the investment consulting business at State Street.
In March 2000, he was appointed executive vice president and member of State Street�s Executive Management Group. In February 2002, Mr. Tarter was named head of Institutional Investor Services with responsibility for State Street�s U.S. investment servicing business for institutional clients. In February 2006, he was given the additional responsibility for State Street�s investment servicing business in Canada and for U.S. benefits payments business.
Prior to joining State Street, Mr. Tarter was with Bankers Trust for more than 20 years and held the title of managing director for the final eight years of his career with Bankers Trust. During his time with Bankers Trust, he held a number of senior positions, both in the U.S. and in overseas locations. Mr. Tarter has managed teams responsible for institutional client service and sales of investment and commercial banking products in the U.S., Latin America, the Far East, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Tarter is chairman of the board of the Central New England Chapter of INROADS, a board member of the Partnership, Inc., a board member of CitiStreet, LLC, a board member of Carver Bancorp, Inc. and a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
Mr. Tarter is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
