Robert R. Nix II is a Member of Kerr, Russell and Weber, PLC and is co-chairperson of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. Mr. Nix practices in the areas of real estate law, commercial law, construction law and commercial litigation with a specialization in commercial real estate development, finance and leasing. His clients include private developers, cities with private/public mixed-use development projects, construction contractors and subcontractors and lending institutions. Mr. Nix has assisted clients in forming specialized limited partnership and limited liability companies to develop, own and lease commercial properties including the participation by both institutional and private investment groups. His varied activities have included serving as court appointed Master and specially selected arbitrator in complex real estate litigation matters.
Mr. Nix is a past chair person of the real property law section and the investment entity committee of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He continues to serve on the council of the Real Property Law Section for the State Bar of Michigan and chairs various special committees for the section. His bar activities at the local, state and federal level include the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, the State Bar of Michigan, the Detroit Bar Association and various special committees within such organizations. The Land Title Standards Committee involved in promulgating land title standards relied upon by the title industry, practitioners and Michigan courts is an example of one of these specialized committees.
Mr. Nix is a regular speaker for seminars for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the Homeward Bound seminar series for the real property law section of the State Bar of Michigan and has published materials in connection with such seminars. He has also written many articles for the Real Property Review and the American College of Real Estate Attorneys. Mr. Nix is listed in both "Who's Who in America Law" and "The Best Lawyers in America." He has also served as an expert witness in many real estate litigation cases.
