Rick is one of the original founders of ReachLocal and serves as CTO and Vice President Development. He brings over twenty years experience in technical management to ReachLocal. Before joining the company, Mr. Spitz was CTO/Vice President Development for WorldWinner.com, an online games site specializing in skill-based cash games. He led technology development and site operations for Web, game, and financial backend services. He helped grow Worldwinner from a startup to a successful business serving over 5 million players. Prior to WorldWinner, Rick was Vice President, Product Development for Decalog Inc. (a division of Sungard), where he headed development for financial applications used by major financial services companies including Citicorp, Warburg Pinkus, and AXA. Prior to that, Rick was founder and President of MetaKnowledge Interactive, which focused on automated Web content creation and data management tools. Before founding MetaKnowledge, he served as Vice President, Software for Apple Computer in Cupertino, California, leading the Macintosh software development organization in the definition and development of such notable Macintosh software products as System 7, PowerPC, and Quicktime multimedia. Before entering the personal computer software arena, Rick had over ten years of software management and software development experience, including leading the VAX/VMS software team at Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Spitz holds a Master of Science degree (Computer Engineering) from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clemson University, and is a graduate of the executive leadership institute at Boston University. |
