Bob Brennen aggressively represents financial institutions, companies and individuals in all manner of business-related disputes, including those involving contracts, real estate, intellectual property and trade secrets, fraud, embezzlement, securities, license agreements, confidentiality agreements and the Internet. His clients have included title insurance underwriters, real estate developers, on-line brokerages, consultants, software designers, private correctional institutions, banks, manufacturers, distributors, importers, entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers and recording companies. The one characteristic that his clients have in common is that they are not in the business of litigation. They want their business disputes resolved as quickly and cost-effectively as possible by an aggressive and responsive lawyer who understands their business goals. In litigation, the ability to obtain emergency Court orders, such as restraining orders, injunctions and orders to freeze or seize assets, often makes the difference between a real and a Pyrrhic victory. In the course of his career, Mr. Brennen has developed extensive experience and skill in obtaining such orders to protect his clients interests. For example, within 24 hours of filing his clients complaint in Winner Bros. Coal v. Primary Coal, he obtained a Court order seizing 60,000 tons of coal. Within 18 hours of the first telephone call from his client in Sanger Co. v. Seth International, he obtained an injunction that tied up 18 shipping containers of aluminum ingots. In Stewart Title v. Moreno, he obtained letters rogatory from a federal judge in Baltimore that resulted in a Court order -- issued in Guatemala -- seizing a bank account there holding more than $1.5 million in embezzled funds, all within 36 hours of learning of the account. Mr. Brennens experience also includes successfully opposing efforts by opponents to obtain such relief against his clients. Mr. Brennen has represented clients in both arbitration and mediation. He has 100 hours of training as a mediator and has served as a Court-appointed mediator on numerous occasions.Practice Areas:Alternative Dispute Resolution Commercial & Business Litigation Commercial Litigation Corporate Governance & Disputes Disputes Over Business Dispositions Intellectual Property Disputes & Litigation Internal Investigations Real Estate Litigation & Title Insurance Defense Intellectual Property & Technology E-Business & Technology Bar Admissions/Court Admissions:Maryland Maryland Court of Appeals United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit United States District Court for the District of Columbia United States District Court for the District of Maryland United States Supreme Court Education:Georgetown University Law Center, J.D. 1987, Cum Laude.University of Pittsburgh, B.A. 1983, Magna Cum Laude.
