Dr. Kirsner is a Professor (tenured) and Vice Chairman in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Kirsner received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University (1984) and received his medical degree from the University of Miami (1988) and his doctorate in Epidemiology from the University of Miami (2004). Dr. Kirsner completed a fellowship in wound healing (1992) and his residency (1995) in dermatology at the University of Miami. Dr. Kirsner is currently president of the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (FSDDS), sits on the board of the Wound Healing Society (WHS) and is a founding member and past president of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC). He is co-directs of the largest multi-disciplinary wound care meeting in the United States, the Symposium for Advanced Wound Care (SAWC).
The co-editor of a recently released comprehensive book, "Wound Healing", he has authored over 200 peer reviewed articles including articles in the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet and Annals of Internal Medicine. Kirsner is also on the editorial board of WOUNDS, Ostomy/Wound Management, Dermatologic Surgery and Skin and Aging. He also serves as a reviewer for most major national and international wound and dermatology journals. |
