Robert (Bob) Hughes is the Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Services and Marketing for Akamai. His responsibilities include leading Akamai's global sales and marketing teams, as well as directing the company's product management, professional services, technical consulting and customer care organizations. With over 15 years of high-technology sales, marketing and business development experience, Mr. Hughes has been instrumental in building and leading Akamai's world-class sales and channel teams, and in positioning Akamai as the leading global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online.
Mr. Hughes joined Akamai in 1999, was appointed Vice President of Global Sales and Services in 2002, and Executive Vice President in 2005. Under his leadership, Akamai has continued to generate consecutive quarters of revenue growth. Mr. Hughes manages the growth and retention of thousands of customers under long-term services contracts, including the world's most well known brands, Fortune 1000 businesses, Web-centric companies, and federal, state, and local government agencies.
From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Hughes was Vice President of U.S. Sales Eastern Region, and launched Akamai's successful Public Sector business. From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Hughes was Vice President of Channels, where he launched and managed Akamai's indirect distribution business. Mr. Hughes also led the development of Akamai's successful ecosystem of reseller partners including IBM, EDS, Digex, Telefonica, as well as numerous Web development, streaming, and other alliance partners.
Prior to Akamai, Mr. Hughes held senior sales and business development positions at PictureTel Corporation, developing strategic sales channels to market PictureTel's TCP/IP voice, video and data product lines; and served in sales and marketing roles at Boston Scientific Corporation.
Mr. Hughes received a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University. |
