Dr. Adelman joined OrbiMed Advisors in 2002 and specializes in private equity investments and structured transactions of small-capitalization public equity companies. Prior to OrbiMed, Dr. Adelman was Vice President of Business Development at NeoGenesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he negotiated and closed several transactions. Before NeoGenesis, Dr. Adelman founded Veritas Medicine where he raised $11 million in venture funding. He also co-founded Operon Technology Inc., a company sold to Qiagen N.V. in 2000. Operon is one of the world�s largest commercial producers of synthetic DNA. Dr. Adelman trained as an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University. As a practicing orthopedic surgeon, he worked with major implant manufacturers on hip and knee replacement design, including Johnson and Johnson Orthopedics and Zimmer, Inc. Dr. Adelman earned his AB in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and his MD from Yale University School of Medicine. |
