Dr. Hamlen has served as a Director since 2005. He is currently Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee.
Dr. Hamlen has a B.S. from Lafayette College, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Johns Hopkins and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. He is recognized and respected throughout the world for his knowledge of batteries and portable power. His extensive commercial and government career spans many high-profile organizations including General Electric, EXXON, ALCAN and the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics R&D Center at Fort Monmouth, N.J., and Ft. Belvoir, Va., where he was the Chief of Army Power Division. Dr. Hamlen holds over 20 patents and has received many prestigious awards, including an R&D 100 Award in 1989 for an undersea emergency power source, the Army Materiel Command Commander's Award for Civilian Service in 2002, the Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 2005, and the Frank Booth Medal at the International Power Sources Symposium in Brighton, UK in 2005. |
