Dr. Robert Thompson, Executive Medical Director, oversees Altru�s care management team and medical specialty and clinical support divisions, including imaging and laboratory services.
He was raised in Velva, ND, where he graduated from Velva High School. Dr. Thompson received his master of business administration form University of St. Thomas and earned his medical degree from University of North Dakota School of Medical and Health Sciences. Further medical training was accomplished at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at Iowa City, IA, where he completed an internal medicine residency and an allergy/immunology fellowship. Dr. Thompson is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
After his medical training, Dr. Thompson practiced approximately two years in the Minneapolis area as an allergist/immunologist. He transferred his practice to the Grand Forks Clinic, Ltd. in 1992 where he has practiced allergy/immunology since. He was selected as one of the Medical Directors at the time of integration of the Grand Forks Clinic, Ltd. and United Hospital in the formation of Altru Health System in 1997.
Dr. Thompson practices as an allergist/immunologist along with maintaining his administrative duties. |
