Robin G. Mahfood is President and Chief Executive Officer of Food For The Poor. As one of the original founders of Food For The Poor, Mahfood previously served as Vice-President and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the corporation since its inception in 1982. His leadership, strategic planning, and business acumen has helped rank the organization among the top 25 most efficiently run non-profits in the country. Prior to assuming the Presidency of Food For The Poor, Mahfood was President and CEO of Essex Exports, Inc., a family-owned business in Coconut Creek.
Mahfood is a self-described "spiritual businessman with a true heart for the poor." With his extensive background in the shipping industry and his in-depth knowledge of the West Indies, Mahfood brings his long-time experience in serving the poor to the forefront as Food For The Poor's leader. For more than a decade, he worked with his brothers in various family businesses in Jamaica until assuming leadership and management responsibilities at Essex Exports in 1977.
Mahfood was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended preparatory school in St. Andrew, Jamaica. He graduated from high school at St. George's College in Kingston, Jamaica and is an alumnus of Loyola College, Montreal, Canada. Mahfood is married with two sons and a daughter, who were involved with Essex Exports and have assumed the leadership of that corporation. |
