Rocky Wiggins, senior vice president and chief information officer, joined AirTran Airways in September 2000. In this position, Wiggins oversees the airline�s IS department as well as the internal and external computer and telephone systems. In addition, the airline�s reservations department and its three Georgia-based call centers report to Wiggins.
With more than 30 years of experience in the airline industry, Wiggins previously served as vice president of delivery management at Sabre, where he was responsible for the implementation of Sabre�s Airline Support Systems, including the scheduling, pricing, yield management, frequent traveler and crew planning systems. Wiggins began his airline career in 1975 at Air Kentucky Airlines. After joining US Airways in 1979, he served in several management roles including senior director of market planning information systems.
A native of Owensboro, Ky., Wiggins studied engineering at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky., and physics at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. He earned a master of business administration from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Wiggins currently lives in Douglasville, Ga., with his wife and four children. |
