Roel is well-known for his insight and expertise in high performance computing, next generation networks, services and the connected devices market. He is recognized as an industry leader with over 25 years of senior management and operating experience with technology companies both in the United States and Europe.He served as President and CEO of UB Networks, a subsidiary of Tandem Computers, from 1993 until 1995. In 1995 he was named President and CEO of Tandem Computers and two years later Tandem Computers was acquired by Compaq Computer Corporation. At Compaq, Roel led the integration of Tandem Computers and Compaq. He joined Philips Electronics N.V. as Executive Vice President in 1998 and also served as a Member of the Board of Directors from 1998 until 1999. In 2000, Roel reorganized Insight Capital Europe into a new investment fund called Favonius Ventures, where he serves as chairman and founding partner. He has served as a member of the board for several companies including Veritas, Computer Associates, Scientific Atlanta, Connekt, and numerous non-profit organizations.Roel received his doctoral in computer science and mathematics from the University of Delft, Netherlands, where he graduated summa cum laude. |
