C. Ron Cheeley is senior vice president, Global Human Resources, for Schering-Plough Corporation.
Cheeley joined Schering-Plough in his present position effective Aug. 1, 2003. He is a member of Schering-Plough's Executive Management Team and Operations Management Team. He is responsible for overseeing Schering-Plough's human resources function worldwide, including providing counsel with respect to the company's organizational structure, executive succession and all major human resources policies and programs. Cheeley is also responsible for public and community affairs, administrative services, and employee health and wellness.
Before coming to Schering-Plough, Cheeley had been group vice president, global compensation and benefits, for Pharmacia Corporation. Previously, he served as director, global compensation and benefits, for The Coca-Cola Company. During his career at Coca-Cola, he also served as director of human resources for Coca-Cola India.
Cheeley holds a B.B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and a Master of Insurance degree from Georgia State University with a concentration in property and casualty risk management and employee benefits. He also holds a certificate in strategic human resources management from Duke University Fuqua School of Business.
Cheeley is a member of the Schering-Plough Foundation Board of Trustees. He was chairman of the board of directors and a member of the executive committee of WorldatWork from 1999-2000. He is a past member of and has served as chairman of the Conference Board Research Council on Employee Benefits. He also has served on the Conference Board Executive Compensation Council and currently serves as a member of the American Benefits Council and the National Academy of Chief Human Resources Officers. Cheeley serves on the board of directors of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
