Mr. Hunt is also a Director of USA Education Inc., a NYSE-listed corporation also known as Sallie Mae. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of Sallie Mae and Chairman of the National Student Clearinghouse, a student enrollment verification firm in Herndon, VA. From 1978 - 1990, Mr. Hunt served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Sallie Mae, having joined the Company in 1973 as Secretary and Deputy General Counsel. At various times during his tenure at Sallie Mae, he oversaw legal, human resources, internal audit, corporate secretary/board relations, loan acquisition management, credit, and public relations functions. Mr. Hunt was Secretary of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1971 - 1973. He served as Senior Legal Assistant to the SEC Chairman from 1969 - 1971, and was staff attorney from 1968-1971. Mr. Hunt has been a Director of Connie Lee Insurance Company; Vice Chairman of First Capital Corporation, a North Carolina savings and loan; a Director of Sallie Mae Management Services Corporation; Chairman of the Landlord-Tenant Commission of Montgomery County, MD; a Trustee of Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. and of the Washington Drama Society; and a Director of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the American Red Cross. |
