In his first official action as Governor, Edward G. Rendell signed an Executive Order establishing the new cabinet level Office of Health Care Reform and the Governor's Health Care Reform Cabinet. On Jan. 21, 2003, Rosemarie B. Greco was sworn in as its Director.
Prior to this appointment, Greco was Founding Principal of GRECOventures Ltd., a business consulting firm. Before beginning GRECOventures, Ltd., Greco was the Chief Executive Officer and President of CoreStates Bank, N.A. and President of CoreStates Financial Corp. Before joining CoreStates in March 1991, Greco was President and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank and Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Retail Officer and a director of First Fidelity Bancorporation.
Greco has served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a member of the Philadelphia Special Judiciary Nominating Panel, the Advisory Commission for the Department of Banking, as a member of Pennsylvania 2000, a statewide coalition for education reform, and as a member of the Foundation for a Drug Free Pennsylvania.
She has served the City of Philadelphia as Chair of the first Women's Commission, as a member of the City Planning Commission, as Chair of a special task force, which drew the charter for Mayor Rendell's Office for Management, Productivity and Planning, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the founding Board of Philadelphia's Special Service District.
For four years, Greco served as a member of the Board of Education for the School District of Philadelphia. She also founded and chaired the School-to-Career Leadership Council.
Greco is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of St. Joseph's University and holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Temple University, Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Cabrini College and Albright College, and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Thomas Jefferson University. |
