Rudolf Fischer was born in 1953. After completing technical high school and after finishing his studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, Mr. Fischer began his career at Alcatel Austria. In 1983 he became head of Accounting and Taxes at Alcatel Austria and in 1988 he also took over responsibility for Controlling.
From 1989 to 1993 Mr. Fischer was head of AOSA, a joint venture between Siemens AG and Alcatel Austria, where he played a major role in the expansion of the Austrian public telecommunications system.
In 1994 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of United Telecom Investment B.V. in the Netherlands. Within the scope of these tasks headed the largest alternative network operator in Hungary. Between 1996 and 1998 he was President of LTOA, an association of local telecommunications operators in Hungary.
Since November 1998 Rudolf Fischer has been Director of the Management Board of Telekom Austria AG and responsible for the areas technology and operations. From December 2001 he takes over the entire wireline sector as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Rudolf Fischer has been Vice Chairman of the Telekom Austria Group since May 24, 2006. He takes on this position in addition to his post as COO Wireline.
