Russell J. Gaspard is the senior executive account manager (SEAM) for the Space Prime contractors, Government Communications Systems (GCS). In this capacity, he reports to the vice president of Strategic Management and Business Development. Mr. Gaspard serves as the advocate for customers in the Space market segment. He represents their interests within Harris, and brings the technology, products, and integration capabilities of the company to bear on their system and mission needs. Prior to his current role, Mr. Gaspard was vice president of the Space Systems business area of Harris, providing world-class solutions for government defense, civil, and intelligence communities. Harris has over 30 years of legacy providing key subsystems for space payloads and associated ground systems for mission processing, including cutting-edge technology in large, high-precision space structures and advanced radiation-hardened space electronics. Under Mr. Gaspard�s leadership, Harris diversified into commercial and international space, and has become the leading supplier of large space unfurlable antenna reflectors in this market. Earlier in his career at Harris, Mr. Gaspard was vice president of the Aerospace Systems business area, serving both the government space and avionics communities. From 1986 to 1998 he served as program director in avionics, with major subcontracts in advanced combat aircraft, rotorcraft, and missile systems. From 1980 to 1985 he was system engineering director, supporting the company�s avionics and space operations. He joined Harris in 1969 as a system engineer specializing in spaceborne and terrestrial communications and signal collection systems, serving overseas for Harris in Germany and Iran. Mr. Gaspard began his career in aerospace as a member of the technical staff at Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he was engaged in the development of advanced radar systems for ABM defense. He holds engineering degrees from Tulane University and New York University.
