Russell Sarver of Durand, Illinois, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association�s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA June 30-July 4, 2006.
Director Sarver has retired following 45 years in banking.
A charter member of the Durand Lions Club since 1973, Director Sarver has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair, lieutenant governor, council chair and district governor. Additionally, he has served as district vision screening coordinator, treasurer, governor-trustee, vice president and president of the Lions of Illinois Foundation, as well as the vice chair and chair of the Budget and Finance Committee for the Lions of Illinois Foundation.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including two 100% Club President�s Awards, 100% District Governor Award, two International President�s Awards, three International President�s Certificates of Appreciation and the International President�s Leadership Award. Director Sarver is a charter member of the Lions of Illinois Foundation Fellowship and a Life Member in Lions Clubs International. He holds the Grand Master Key Award for sponsoring more than 67 new Lions and has 33 years of perfect attendance. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Sarver is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including serving as co-chair of the Residential Crusade of the American Cancer Society in Rockford, Illinois. In the Boy Scouts of America, he is an Eagle Scout with two palms and is a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
Director Sarver and his wife, Sue, also a member of the Durand Lions Club and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children and two grandchildren. |
