Ryan Yates, based in the New York office, first joined Kenyon & Kenyon as a summer associate in 2005, and now continues his practice as an associate. His practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law, centering on IP litigation, patent prosecution, asset management and opinion work.
Mr. Yates received his B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois and his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law. While at the University of Illinois, Mr. Yates rounded out his undergraduate experience with business courses. His engineering studies focused on power engineering and computer architecture, obtaining a Grainger Outstanding Electrical Engineering Student Award and an Electrical Manufacturer�s and Coil Winding Association Academic Scholarship in the process. Also while at Illinois, he performed market research for the student-founded and student-run technology consulting group, OTCR, and conceived of an online marketplace for student apartment hunting.
While in law school, Mr. Yates engaged in multiple moot court competitions. Mr. Yates received recognition for excellent work in advanced patent law and law and economics courses. The summer after Mr. Yates� first year of law school, he applied his knowledge of electrical power flows and economics in representing the People of Illinois as the power industry deregulated within Illinois. |
