Ryan Kappes is a Disaster Recovery Specialist who has brought an exclusive quality to the State of Louisiana. He currently serves as the State Applicant Liaison of Temporary Facilities and Interim Housing for the State of Louisiana as a part of JLWA's recovery efforts. In this role, he coordinates with state and local officials to ensure that all possible reimbursement is obtained from FEMA's Public Assistance process. Mr. Kappes brings a unique knowledge of Interim Housing since he was involved in the process from implementation.
Prior to joining JLWA, Mr. Kappes previously served as a Technical Assistance Contractor to FEMA spanning 9 disasters. Mr. Kappes conducted eligibility determinations and damage assessments for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance in the roles of Interim Housing Specialist, Temporary Facilities Specialist, Insurance Specialist, Lead Project Officer, Deputy Group Lead and Group Lead. Mr. Kappes has extensive knowledge of the Stafford Act and exceptional experience with all categories of work including mitigation, alternate and improved projects. Using this experience, Mr. Kappes has helped applicants receive reimbursement for more than 300 million dollars in grant funds.
Mr. Kappes has also assisted emergency planners in the developmental stages of evacuation and emergency plans for schools and athletic events. His creative ideas were implemented and shared within the educational community. Mr. Kappes also served 2 years as a Boatswains Mate in the United States Navy. |
