Sam Combs was named president of ONEOK Distribution Companies in February 2005. In this newly created position, Combs has responsibility for the operations of all of ONEOK�s natural gas distribution companies--Kansas Gas Service, Texas Gas Service and Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. Prior to stepping into his new job, Combs had served as president of ONG since 2001, heading up ONEOK's largest utility division.
He started with the company in 1985 as an engineer trainee and worked his way up through various levels of ONG management, serving, for instance, as a district operating manager and vice president of the Western Region.
A Bristow, Oklahoma, native, Combs holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University. Professionally, he is a charter board member of the American Association of Plant Engineers and has served in various leadership positions in Blacks in Energy, the Engineering Society of Tulsa, and the American Public Works Association.
Very active in the community, Combs is on the Governor�s Council on Workforce and Economic Development and is former president of Leadership Oklahoma. He is a board member of the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation and the Oklahoma State Fair, and he has served as treasurer of the State Chamber. He is on the board of governors for the Oklahoma State University Foundation and is president of the OSU Black Alumni Association. |
